Jason Pascale will be traveling to Guyana on August 17, 2011. We would appreciate your prayers and support for this trip. The costs of traveling to Guyana are continuing to increase; however, we know that this is an opportunity the Lord has place in our hands, and it will bear much fruit in the years to come.
Despite some challenges and setbacks over the past year, we are very excited about the future of Guyana, and our involvement.
The School Project is continuing to improve slowly and steadily. We are so thankful for the commitment, diligence and willingness, of the teachers. Same as anywhere, most teachers are underpaid for what they do. This is most definitely true in Guyana.
The Poutry Projects are still going, the model works excellently, and is more profitable than we anticipated; however, the final investment to bring the number of chickens being raised to the maximum is necessary for these to become self-sustaining. We probably need about 2500 - 3000 for this. Then immediately, as the fund are paid back, they will be reinvested in other projects.
We are excited about an opportunity that has opened up the Berbice area. There is a gathering of people that is reaching out to the leaders in Moblissa for input. We are looking forward to meeting with them and an increased connection in the coming months.
Also, we anticipate the establishment of a Farming God's Way plot which will be used for training and equipping the Guyanese with these wonderful methods of farming which require little investment. Jason met with founder of FGW, Grant Dryden, in April of this year in South Africa, and Grant is convinced the principles will work anywhere. We also anticipate FGW being able to be spread to our other contacts throughout South and Central America.
Please also continue to pray for Bruce and Mary's adoption of Kamilla.
With Gratitude,
The Mission Guyana Team |
